What is CrossGen?

CrossGen is an opportunity for the family of God to come together in a meaningful exchange of wisdom and support.  Every person, every age, is invited to participate.

WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST.

We need each other!  Regardless of age, we can learn from one another as we explore the Bible together.  We will have opportunities to form special friendships with people in different life stations from our own.  We will provide opportunities for busy families to talk about faith together.  These opportunities could look like:

  • An 80-year-old man who has read the story of Noah 100 times will find a fresh idea through the eyes of a 5-year-old!

  • An unsure father will gain confidence in reading the Bible with his kids at home.

  • A widowed woman will sit in church with her new CrossGen family.

  • A third-grader will ask her mom a question in the car about something they learned on Sunday.

  • A child will make a friend of a senior adult who they have never met before.

  • A woman whose grandchildren are grown and far away will sit and color a craft with a preschooler while mom talks with his older sibling.

What will we do?

CrossGen is an interactive, multi-sensory Bible study.  Participants will sit around tables and participate in reading the Bible together, understanding the story through illustrations, skits, videos, and reenacting characters or events.  There will be a time of group prayer, a few songs, and craft options for different ages and interests.  Written activities will also offer various levels of understanding and discussion.

… and besides, why should kids have all the fun?!

Sundays 9:15-10:15am

Please Note:

While Cross Gen is for ALL ages, we do have a few options available for adults and young people in grades 5-12.  Adults will have a simultaneous class offered during Cross Gen.  Our middle school class (grades 5-8) and our high school group meet at Luther Hall on Sundays at 9:15am.  Anyone in these age groups is free to choose which class to attend.

CrossGen is

Biblical.
Interactive.
Inventive.
Thoughtful.
Fun.

Why Intergenerational?

The whole body depends on Christ. And all the parts of the body are joined and held together. Each part of the body does its own work. And this makes the whole body grow and be strong with love.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.

In the same way, I’m speaking to you who are younger. Follow the lead of those who are older. All of you, put on a spirit free of pride toward one another.
