Soaring Eagles
Children in Messiah Lutheran’s Soaring Eagle’s class develop intellectual, social, emotional, and physical skills in a warm, Christ-centered, supportive educational atmosphere. They are encouraged to explore their world and try new things as they prepare for the world ahead.
In our Soaring Eagle’s classroom, you will find children who are 3 & 4 years old. As in all of our classrooms, in the Soaring Eagle’s classroom staff work to develop curriculum based on the students’ current learning abilities within their classroom. Small group learning is a focus in our class to help students achieve their greatest potential.
Our students learn concepts in language arts, math, science, social studies, and religion, as well as art, physical education, and music. Learning is encouraged for each of our students through free and directed play every day at school. Our goal is to help each child build a personal relationship with God while providing a well-rounded education that supports their cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual development. By integrating faith into our classrooms, we aim to cultivate hearts filled with love, compassion, and a lifelong connection to God.

Fish Kids
Every day is a NEW day of growing and learning! The Fish Kids’ classroom is an exciting place to be, watching the development of each child in their own unique ways is the best blessing. In the Fish Kids classroom at Messiah you’ll find students who are 4-5 years old who will graduate in the Spring and head off to Kindergarten the following Fall. Our classrooms emphasize a play-based, hands-on learning approach that is focusing on developing foundational skills in areas such as social-emotional, literacy, math, science, and social studies. At Messiah Lutheran Early Learning Center & Preschool, we believe that nurturing a child’s faith in God is an essential part of their growth and development. Our classrooms are designed to create a warm, loving environment where children can learn about God’s love through stories, songs, prayer, and every day interactions!

experienced staff
Our experienced and highly qualified teachers enable each child to reach his or her highest potential by supporting children wherever they are on their own learning path and timeline. Our low child-to-teacher ratios and small class sizes enable our teachers to:

- develop close child-teacher bonds of affection, trust, and respect;
- assess each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth and work to achieve the best learning outcomes for each child;
- work with children in small groups.
Our Soaring Eagle & Fish Kids classrooms have a 1:10 ratio. Our Lead Teaching staff prepare daily learning goals and objectives based off of a monthly theme as well as monthly goals. Our Assistant Teaching staff support the needs of the classroom each day. All staff are dedicated to seeing the success of each child.
Our team is composed of individuals who are faithful to the calling of this ministry, living out Christian values in their daily interactions with children, families, and one another. They are passionate about early childhood development and committed to providing high-quality education that supports each child’s unique learning journey. Through engaging, faith-based curriculum, free-play, structured play, and intentional teaching, our educators create a foundation that encourages curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.
the preschool experience
Jesus and Me – (JAM time)
Reading Bible stories, singing songs of praise and praying as a group are a big part of our Preschool & Pre-K program. We encourage the children to develop their faith in and love for Jesus. During JAM time we talk about sharing God’s love and following His example to be kind and helpful to others. Each month we have 2 bible stories that we focus on. Each week we build on previously taught lessons and stories. We use a curriculum from Concordia Publishing House to develop and teach our curriculum.
Language Arts/Literacy
Preschoolers in our program develop oral and written language skills through language arts education. We talk about real and imagined experiences, current events and projects. Students begin understanding the development of words through alphabet knowledge and phonics. We read extensively and participate in finger plays, rhymes and songs. Written language is encouraged each day by writing names, words, creating basic sentences, etc. As part of our Literacy curriculum staff work with students to begin to identify how to read books; through pictures! Our staff encourage students to begin to understand the structure of words by sounding it out, creative spelling is one of our absolute favorite things in our classrooms!
Dramatic Play
Children develop their imagination and creative problem solving through dramatic play center.
From pretend kitchens and grocery stores to doctor’s offices and space stations, these centers provide endless opportunities for children to explore different roles, express their creativity, and engage in meaningful play. Through dramatic play, children develop language skills, learn cooperation, and build confidence as they act out real-world scenarios in a safe and supportive environment.
By encouraging children to use their imaginations, our dramatic play areas help lay the foundation for cognitive, social, and emotional growth. We are committed to creating a playful and enriching learning experience that allows every child to dream, discover, and explore the world around them. Each month our dramatic play center is changed out and is developed by staff based on current goals and theme for each month.
Math
Math in preschool is all about development! We work with students to begin to understand the concept of numbers. We believe that early math expereinces lay the groundwork for a lifetime of learning. Through counting, sorting, measuring, and exploring shapes, children develop essential early math skills in a playful and supportive environment. Our teachers incorporate math into daily routines, dramatic play, and sensory activities, helping children recognize that math is all around them. Whether they are building with blocks, exploring number patterns, or comparing sizes, our young learners gain confidence and a love for mathematical thinking. In the classroom we have hands-on and small group activities that involve a variety of number concepts. We introduce students to the concepts of patterning, fractions, numerals, counting, measurements, spacial sense, classifying and sets, comparing, ordering, graphing, addition and subtraction as well as observations. Each of these skills are developed in our classrooms and we build upon the child’s understanding throughout the school year.
Science
Preschoolers are naturally curious. The number one question that teachers and parents hear from our students is “why” – because they want to know! In our science program we encourage students to figure out the answer to “why” or “how” through hands on experiences. Preschool science is more about developing a way of thinking and exploring than it is gaining a body of knowledge on a specific topic. We use our senses and several hand-on activities to discover the world around us.
Social Studies
An important element of classroom life is helping each child to develop a healthy sense of self and positive self-esteem. We work on social skills, self-regulating emotions and behaviors, and effective communication with others. The children learn also about themselves, their friends, families, our country and holidays. Daily we practice self control skills. Students are made aware of their behaviors and actions and the positive or negative consequences to the behaviors.
Art
Through painting, drawing, sculpting, and collage-making, children engage in hands-on activities that strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making. Art also encourages self-expression, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment as children create unique pieces that reflect their thoughts and imagination.
By allowing students to take the lead in their art projects, we foster creativity, independence, and critical thinking—skills that extend beyond the classroom. At Messiah Early Learning Center & Preschool, we celebrate the joy of artistic discovery, valuing the learning that happens along the way rather than focusing on a final product. Kids and adults are typically messy following art!
Physical Education
We believe that movement is not only fun but also critical for cognitive growth and emotional well-being. Daily opportunities for active play help children release energy, improve focus, and develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
At Messiah Early Learning Center & Preschool, we encourage every child to move, explore, and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle in a safe and supportive environment.
We work with the children on large and small motor development through physical education, playing games outside, running, jumping, throwing, catching, walking, hopping, galloping, marching and balancing. Whenever it is possible we play outside for our large motor time. During this time we typically allow for free play. On days in which it is not possible for us to be outside on the playground, our staff work to develop curriculum for indoor large motor development. This could include dancing, following directions, use of parachutes, yoga instruction, or other large motor equipment.
Fine Motor Skills
By providing purposeful activities that encourage hand-eye coordination, finger strength, and precise movements, we help children build the foundational skills they need for writing, self-help tasks, and creative expression. At Messiah Early Learning Center & Preschool, fine motor development is seamlessly woven into our daily routines, ensuring that learning remains fun, interactive, and developmentally appropriate. Some of the ways our students develop fine motor skills by stringing beads and buttons, working with play dough, constructing with manipulatives, drawing, painting and cutting.
Music
Through singing, dancing, rhythm activities, and instrument play, children develop essential skills such as language development, coordination, memory, and social-emotional growth. Music enhances learning by making concepts like counting, letter recognition, and storytelling more interactive and memorable. Whether it’s a morning welcome song, movement breaks, or calming melodies during rest time, music helps create a structured and nurturing atmosphere in our classrooms. In addition to singing songs of praise during JAM (Jesus and Me) time, we give our students many opportunities to sing, play, listen and move to music.
