Ron
Boyce

Ron Boyce serves as a Custodial Assistant at Messiah. Prior to retirement Ron worked for 40 years at ARC as a Photo Reprographics Camera Operator and Warehouse Manager. He also worked as a PT Evening Custodian at another local church for 13 years. Ron and his wife Dayle joined Messiah in 2005. Since then they have both been active volunteers in a variety of ways at Messiah. When Ron is not working, he enjoys spending his retirement hours gardening, painting, reading  and watching the Twins and Wild. He is also a devoted dad to his 2 daughters, son-in-law, and 3 grandchildren.

Allison
Burkhow

Allison Burkhow serves Messiah as the Administrative & Media Coordinator.  She received a bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in Communications and Theater.  Allison grew up as a member of Messiah and began employment here in 2000. For over 25 years she has served in a variety of roles including Kids’ Ministry, Pastoral Care, Assistance Ministries, and Outreach.  Allison and Jon married in 1995 and their five children have grown up in the Messiah family. As her family has grown, so has her passion for planting the seeds of faith in the hearts of young people.  In addition to goofing around with their kids, she and her husband enjoy traveling to new places, seeing movies, and cooking ethnic food.

Kristen
Casserly

Kristen Casserly serves as the Director of Messiah Lutheran Preschool & Early Learning Center, where she has been guiding young learners and supporting families since 2026. With a degree in Early Childhood Education and over 17 years of experience in early childhood development, Kristen is passionate about creating a safe, play-based, and faith-filled environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Adam
Christopherson

Adam Christopherson serves as the Director of Music at Messiah Lutheran Church, having joined the team in August 2026. He graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul (CSP) with a degree in Music, alongside studies in Lutheran Theology and Christian Ministry. Adam has also served in the MN Army National Guard since 2016, which included a deployment to the Middle East. Following their wedding in October, Adam and his soon-to-be wife, Liz, will be moving to an apartment in Shoreview, MN. They share a Dutch Shepherd fittingly named Dutch, whom Adam adopted from a shelter in 2022.

In his free time, Adam loves staying active and spending time outdoors—whether that’s in the woods, biking, walking the dog, or out on the water. He is an avid disc golfer and a diehard Vikings and Wild fan. Adam is passionate about using his gifts to share the Gospel through music, equipping others to join in the music ministry, and connecting with other young adults to both foster intergenerational community within the church and to grow the church.

Curtis
Flor

Curt Flor has the longest tenure on the staff, as he has been serving Messiah since 1987.   Curt is the Facilities Manager and Technology Coordinator.  Curt lives in Mounds View with his wife, Sandy, and has two children, Jessica and Nick.  Curt has a First Class Engineer’s license to operate low pressure boilers.  His areas of responsibility are quite diverse and over the years he has developed the ability to solve most maintenance issues while taking on the IT duties as well.  He enjoys being in the outdoors spending family time fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling and the occasional ATV ride.  Another hobby he likes is car and small engine repair.  Messiah has been such a wonderful part of his life for so long he can’t imagine doing anything else.

Heather
McAllister

Heather McAllister wears two hats at Messiah serving both as the Business Manager and Choir Director.  She has been serving as Choir Director since January, 2004 and roles in the office since May, 2011. Heather received her Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Music Education (both vocal and instrumental) and Viola Performance from Concordia University, St. Paul. Her previous experience has been as music director at Bethel Lutheran Church in St. Paul, managing her own private studio, and almost 10 years managing Claire Givens Violins, Inc. in Minneapolis. Heather was thrilled to be able to accept a full time position at Messiah where she has been a life-long member. Heather lives in Shoreview with her husband, Matt, their 2 daughters, Anya & Isabelle, and dog, Walter. In her spare time, Heather loves to spend time with family, watch her girls dance, camp, bake, and of course, play music!

Pastor
Paul Jay Pfotenhauer

Pastor Pfotenhauer joined the Messiah staff as the Senior Pastor in August of 2024.  He has served as a pastor since 1992, first in a dual parish in Wisconsin until 1999, then in Westmont, IL at Bethel Lutheran for 25 years.  Pastor P.Jay has been married for over 30 years to his wife, Raechel, and they have 3 adult children, Micah, Caleb, and Eli.  Pastor P.Jay leads worship regularly, teaches the confirmation and Sunday adult classes, as well as overseeing home visits with the Elders.  He says his passion in ministry is that people would have life here, and in heaven, to the fullest.  John 10:10
