Confirmation prepares God’s children to make a life-long commitment to Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Classes meet Wednesdays at 6:00PM. Confirmation is for youth in grades 6 to 8. Confirmation is a time when a young person is mature enough to make or confirm the promises that their parents and sponsors made for them when they were baptized. At Messiah we use a large group/small group format. First we meet as a large group. Everyone enrolled in confirmation. Then the students meet in groups of 4-6. These are called teams. An adult (team leader) meets with them to review and apply the lesson. Team leaders are adults from the congregation who have a love for preteens and early teens. Our team leaders have had sons or daughters in the program, currently have a family members in the program or have children coming up into the program. Requirements for before confirmation include: sermon notes, memory work and a family assignment. Since we only cover a topic once in our three year program, the student will have a make up lesson if they miss a class. We understand the busyness of today's family. However, we ask that for this brief time in the young person's life that the parents and the students make Confirmation a priority. Orientation for all Confirmation students will be September 10th at 6PM. Registration fees will remain at $25. If this is a hardship for your family please talk to Diane Meyer or Phyllis Grubb. We are supplying each student with a Bible, a workbook, text book, a Bible marking kit, and a journal. Students from previous years should have a journal. Please bring the registration form and medical release for with you on the first night. |
